Dual Purpose ATC/DECON

3%-6% ATC/DECON is a versatile fire fighting foam for protection of a wide range of Class B flammable liquid hazards and a Decontamination Solution product for Biological/Chemical remediation.

3%-6% ATC is an all synthetic film forming foam designed for protection of water-soluble polar solvents as well as water insoluble hydrocarbon flammable liquids. When used with fresh water and foam generating equipment, 3%-6% ATC is transformed into vapor-blanketing foam to provide extinguishing and securing capabilities. When batch mixed at a 50/50 ratio, this product produces a Decontamination Solution proven to neutralize all Chemical and Biological weapons known to man.

Recommended Application

U.S. Foam’s 3%-6% ATC is recommended for use in a wide variety of fire fighting foam application devices. Examples are: foam chambers, forcing foam makers, and aspirating foam nozzles. In addition, practical applications have been demonstrated in a number of discharge devices, such as non-aspirating sprinklers, water spray nozzles, and water/fog nozzles.

U.S. Foam’s Decon Solution was designed to combat all domestic chemical and biological warfare weapons (CBW) and produce a 7-log kill on the hazard. U.S. Foam’s decon formula can be deployed as a foam, liquid spray, or fog.

Features

Aqueous Film Formation:  U.S. Foam’s ATC/Decon, like all U.S. Foam Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) Concentrates, has the ability to form an aqueous film which flows quickly over water-insoluble hydrocarbon fuel surfaces causing rapid fire extinguishment and vapor suppression.

Features (Continued)

Polymeric Properties: Provides a membrane-like protective layer that forms on water-soluble polar solvents (alcohols). The foam blanket and polymeric layer remain intact.

U.S. Foam’s Decon formula can combat all CBW directly and effectively, without pitting personnel in hazard areas.

Fire suppression and vapor control are positive.

Proportions Readily:  Permits use in a wide range or proportioning equipment.

Solution Stability:  Solutions of U.S. Foam’s ATC/Decon do not present "transit time" limitations through handlines or in fixed systems.

Environmental Impact

U.S. Foam concentrates undergo a program of ongoing testing to assess the impact of U.S. Foam products on the natural environment.  U.S. Foam products are low in toxicity to tested aquatic organisms. (Toxicity information is available from Product Environmental Data sheets, Material Safety Data sheets and Toxicity Summary sheets for individual products.)

Aquatic life is not adversely affected when U.S. Foam products are used and disposed of properly.  U.S. Foam products can be successfully treated in biological waste water treatment systems.

Storage

ATC/Decon may be stored in its shipping container without change in its original physical or chemical characteristics.  It does not show significant sedimentation or precipitation in storage or after temperature cycling.  Freezing and thawing have no effect on performance and the concentrate proportions satisfactorily in ordinary equipment at temperatures above 32F.  Freeze-thaw cycling may cause slight stratification which may be overcome with moderate agitation.  Annual inspection as prescribed in NFPA11 is recommended.

Packaging

All U.S. Foam Technologies, Inc. products are available in 5 gallon pails, 55 gallon drums or 275 gallon Totes.
